I will not talk about Valentine's Day per sé because well, flat out I don't believe in it and don't celebrate it. It is not my intention to offend but I have my own personal and religious beliefs, so I don't really have any bad or good experiences related to Valentine's Day.

To me LOVE is something you express any day of the year. It is not a dusty old thing you take out only every February 14th of each year. However, I'm grateful because throughout my life I have had significant experiences and long lasting relationships, (whether family, boyfriends or friendship) However, romantically speaking these songs have had a huge meaning and impact on my life. So, I'll share them with you.
I Swear (All-4-One)
I swear by the moon and the stars in the skies
And I swear like the shadow that's by your side

I see the questions in your eyes
I know what's weighing on your mind
You can be sure I know my part
Cause I stand beside you through the years
You'll only cry those happy tears
And though I make mistakes
I'll never break your heart

And I swear by the moon and the stars in the skies
I'll be there
I swear like the shadow that's by your side
I'll be there
For better or worse
Till death do us part
I'll love you with every beat of my heart
And I swear

I'll give you every thing I can
I'll build your dreams with these two hands
We'll hang some memories on the walls
And when (and when) just the two of us are there
You won't have to ask if I still care
Cause as the time turns the page
My love won't age at all

And I swear (I swear) by the moon and the stars in the skies
I'll be there (I'll be there)
I swear (and I swear) like the shadow that's by your side
I'll be there (I'll be there)
For better or worse
Till death do us part
I'll love you with every beat of my heart
And I swear

And I swear (I swear) by the moon and the stars in the skies
I'll be there (I'll be there)
I swear (and I swear) like the shadow that's by your side
I'll be there (I'll be there)
For better or worse (better or worse)
Till death do us part (I know)
I'll love you with every single beat of my heart
I swear
I swear
I swear
Thank You for Loving Me (Bon Jovi)
It's hard for me to say the things
I want to say sometimes
There's no one here but you and me
And that broken old street light
Lock the doors
leave the world outside
All I've got to give to you
Are these five words and I

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn't see
For parting my lips
When I couldn't breathe
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me

I never knew I had a dream
Until that dream was you
When I look into your eyes
The sky's a different blue
Cross my heart
I wear no disguise
If I tried, you'd make believe
that you believed my lies

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn't see
For parting my lips
When I couldn't breathe
Thank you for loving me

You pick me up when I fall down
You ring the bell before they count me out
If I was drowning you would part the sea
And risk your own life to rescue me

yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah!....

Lock the doors
leave the world outside
All I've got to give to you
Are these five words and I

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
Oh, when I couldn't see
For parting my lips
When I couldn't breathe
Thank you for loving me

When I couldn't fly
Oh, you gave me the wings
You parted my lips
When I couldn't breathe
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me

Just like there are songs that are so emotional and beautiful that make you forget where you are lol... there are other songs or artists that give you goosebumps or even irritate you... sometimes without any logical reason. That is the case with this 1st song... I hate it! Although it has beautiful lyrics, I don't know why I hate it so much! The second song is simply because I can't stand Justin Bieber!! Can't understand today's girls' obsession with him! Ugh!
I've never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight
I've never seen you shine so bright
I've never seen so many men ask you if you wanted to dance
Lookin for a little romance, given half a chance
And I have never seen that dress you're wearing
Or the highlights in your hair that catch the light, I have been blind

The Lady in red is dancing with me
Cheek to cheek, there's nobody here
It's just you and me, it's where I wanna be
But I hardly know, this beauty by my side
I'll never forget the way you look tonight

I've never seen you look as gorgeous as you did tonight
I've never seen you shine so bright, you were amazing
I've never seen so many people wanna be there by your side
And when you turned to me and smiled, it took my breath away
I have never had such a feeling, such a feeling of complete and utter love
As I do tonight

The lady in red is dancing with me
Cheek to cheek, there's nobody here
It's just you and me, it's where I wanna be
Well I hardly know, this beauty by my side
I'll never forget the way you look tonight
I never will forget the way you look tonight

The lady in red, the lady in red
The lady in red, my lady in red

I love you...
You know you love me, I know you care
Just shout whenever, and I'll be there
You are my love, you are my heart
And we will never ever ever be apart

Are we an item? Girl, quit playing
We're just friends, what are you saying?
Say there's another and look right in my eyes
My first love broke my heart for the first time
And I was like...

Baby, baby, baby oooh
Like baby, baby, baby nooo
Like baby, baby, baby oooh
I thought you'd always be mine (mine)

Baby, baby, baby oooh
Like baby, baby, baby nooo
Like baby, baby, baby oooh
I thought you'd always be mine (mine)

Oh, for you I would have done whatever
And I just can't believe we ain't together
And I wanna play it cool, but I'm losin' you
I'll buy you anything, I'll buy you any ring
And I'm in pieces, baby fix me
And just shake me 'til you wake me from this bad dream
I'm going down, down, down, down
And I just can't believe my first love won't be around

And I'm like
Baby, baby, baby oooh
Like baby, baby, baby nooo
Like baby, baby, baby oooh
I thought you'd always be mine (mine)

Baby, baby, baby oooh
Like baby, baby, baby nooo
Like baby, baby, baby oooh
I thought you'd always be mine (mine)

[Ludacris:]
Luda! When I was 13, I had my first love,
There was nobody that compared to my baby
and nobody came between us or could ever come above
She had me going crazy, oh, I was star-struck,
she woke me up daily, don’t need no Starbucks.
She made my heart pound, it skipped a beat when I see her in the street and
at school on the playground but I really wanna see her on the weekend.
She knows she got me dazing cause she was so amazing
and now my heart is breaking but I just keep on saying...

Baby, baby, baby oooh
Like baby, baby, baby nooo
Like baby, baby, baby oooh
I thought you'd always be mine (mine)

Baby, baby, baby oooh
Like baby, baby, baby nooo
Like baby, baby, baby oooh
I thought you'd always be mine (mine)

I'm gone (Yeah Yeah Yeah, Yeah Yeah Yeah)
Now I'm all gone (Yeah Yeah Yeah, Yeah Yeah Yeah)
Now I'm all gone (Yeah Yeah Yeah, Yeah Yeah Yeah)
Now I'm all gone (gone, gone, gone...)
I'm gone

As a future teacher there are some aspects I would like to know more about because I believe they are at the core of what is going on at schools today and I as a techer must take into consideration once I'm on the field. I'm gonna give my personal opinion on these following aspects sorrounding the area of EDUCATION.

1- Should culture be an integral part of the educational system?

Absolutely yes. I chose this question because I'm a firm believer that culture is our essence; it reflects who we are wherever we go. Therefore, involving culture in our teaching style not only motivates learning in children but also engages us all in wanting to learn. For example, since i want to be an ESL teacher, won't it be easier and more approachable if students can read a story that's related to their culture and tradition? If they are learning while being able to identify themselves in what they are reading or learning, they'll be immersed in something that defines each of them as individuals. There is no doubt then that the benefits will be greater.

2- How important is technology in education?
First of all it is important to establish and recognize the extent of technology on our everyday lives. Each day we know of or have in our possession a new gadget, a new smartphone, a new device, etc. Technology is advancing and so are we as a society (in some ways). Therefore, it is understandable that students in our society today can relate to technology also. Technology has definitely become an important instrument for teaching. It has enriched both teaching and learning styles and made instruction a more varied and complete one. They can prepare visuals, use resources such as videos, audio, computers that kids can manipulate, among other things. Also, it is important because it can better help students with learning disabilities. Technology has its pros and cons of course, (one of those I will mention below); but overall, I believe teachers should acquire the skills to know how to incorporate it in their teaching and that way engage their students.

3- Should cellphones be allowed in schools?
As I mentioned in the last question, the extent of technology is impressive and has made life easier in many ways for us. However, I consider that there are some things that no matter how much times have changed and technology advances are simply not appropiate. I'm against students having and WORSE using cellphones in schools, for example. People (mainly parents) think it is important for emergencies and that kids having it  is a matter of necessity. It is not. Schools have phones that are available for any student in any emergency. Personally, I had my 1st cellphone at 17 when I went to college. I was a very sick child growing up and I did not NEED it, even in emergencies. Besides, let's be honest. Are the students using cellphones for emergencies? Not most of them. They play around, get distracted or older children use the internet for worse things and they say that they're using the internet for studying. That's rarely the case. If parents want to give their kids phones that is their personal decision but schools should not allow them because they can't control what they do with them. A school is not an appropiate environment for having cellphones.

Well, to me “research” is a process where you investigate, look for info or study a specific topic. Researching information help us know new things and helps us to better understand some concepts. It is ultimately interesting and beneficial; however, I do not necessarily like it. First of all, when we research a subject, we have to be potentially interested in what we are looking for. That rarely happens because we have to admit that most of us do research for academic or professional obligations (because we have to, not because we want to).

I respect everybody's beliefs and likes and dislikes so don't take this the wrong way, but, personally,  I  don't think I would ever be interested in researching anything related to politics, simply because politics don't interest me at all. Nonetheless, some topics are bound to get our attention and pique our interest.

On a professional level I'd have to research topics concerning education, because I will be a teacher and there are some things that concern me. On a personal level I guess I've always leaned towards social factors and topics affecting our society today, and that also includes the influence of the media, technology, etc on people today, especially kids. It's extense but I find it interesting.

My PLAN B.... Not that big on multitasking cause I'm kind of a perfectionist!! I probably wouldn't have survived as a secretary!
Picture
I have always wanted to be a teacher! CONFESSION: I sat my little brothers and used my little board to write on it and teach them (actually I was only doodling at 3, LOL) and I did the same with my dolls. So it's been with me since as long as I can remember! Besides, I've always loved children and I love working with kids, helping them, teaching and tutoring them. But would I have chosen another career path?

2- Well, if I had a plan B I would've been a secretary. People think being teachers or secretaries is too predictable for women, but I have to be truthful: I enjoyed both since I was little. My dad is a professor here at UPR and I used to rearrange his papers, or organize his desk sometimes haha! I was quiet and wasn't a very extroverted kid. But anyways, I would have chosen any of these two.

Although I love children I would NEVER EVER dream of being a DOCTOR or NURSE. It seems ironic being around kids, but I just couldn't handle dealing with blood and sickness.
                                                    MY RESULTS
ISFJ: "Conservator"
. These people are service and work oriented  - very loyal. They are good nurses, teachers, secretaries, general practitioners, librarians, middle managers, and housekeepers. 6% of the total population.

WOW!! I guess I'm predictable haha! But I wouldn't have it any other way cause this is what I love!! Although I AM surprised to see nurse there... never gonna happen LOL! Anyways, it's true... I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A TEACHER!

When I first saw this picture I immediately was drawn to it visually because to me it represented what I like most about sunsets and the beach: peace, serenity, tranquility.

I could be all day sitting near the shore, looking at the beach, listening to the sounds of the waves. I consider myself a very reflexive person, I like to meditate, think in advance before I make decisions and the pictures made me think about that.

I also liked the very noticeable contrast between clarity and obscurity, the majestic nature and beautiful surroundings and how insignificant we can be in it, when I looked at the 2 people in the beach, that seem two tiny specks. Sometimes we think more of ourselves than we should and we forget  the magnificent things God created for us.

If I was to pick out a style or genre of music that defines me or a genre I prefer above the rest, I couldn't! I'm Puerto Rican so I love dancing and Salsa and Merengue music. I like classic rock, modern rock, R&B, Oldies, I like the 70's Disco music, and I love ABBA!!! Choosing just one wouldn't be fair!!!

But there is an artist who I think is above them all: EDNITA NAZARIO. Ednita Nazario's music has trascended generations. Some people don't like her music, thinking it is always the same; some people even think she has something against MEN :-O Haha!! Her fans are mostly women obviously, but men too. But she is my favorite singer. The truth is her music IN ME evokes all kinds of emotions and I listen to her music when I'm sad, angry or even happy (singing in the car with my best friend at the top of my lungs!!!) It might be a coincidence, but I can always relate to her songs. It might be because of a personal experience or someone else's. However, some of these songs can inspire any of us, like "El Privilegio de Dar" lyrics.

Ednita has demonstrated over time she is "profeta en su tierra". I remember she was invited to the celebration of the UPR's centenario back in 2003. I was there, I was 15 yrs old and from then on I put her on a pedestal. To me she will always be a DIVA!

If I could have a special power, I would probably choose the power to heal. I think it's pretty obvious why. With so many diseases that affect us, it would feel amazing if I could heal a loved one or help out someone who needs it. That would be the most amazing power!!

My name is Monica, but my family calls me Lala. I had to drop out of college for a while, but last year I came back to finish my Bachelor's degree, finally. I plan to fully become an English teacher very soon. I hate my flat hair but love my big blue eyes.  Although I can be very shy,  I transform myself when I'm around children.  Even though I'm 24 years old I love the fact that I still adore The Little Mermaid and can admit that I am a complete "Disney Freak".
